Messy Car

Yesterday after school Maya and I stopped at Lunds to pick up a couple things and we happened to park next to what has to be the messiest car in the history of cars - the entire thing, front and back, was filled with garbage. I found all the the White Castle and McDonalds wrappers particularly funny, as they speak of a person apparently taking their sloven lifestyle to unheard of heights (or lows depending how you look at it.) Either way I'm guessing this person is single, and probably will be for some time as there is really no room for anyone else to sit. :-)

Cat Problems

If Maya's Grandma thinks she has cat problems with Gizmo checkout this guys blog. - Link

Soccer

Maya will be playing soccer again this Spring, I'm sending in the registration today. This year she will be on an all girls team (no more stinky boys) and hopefully she'll score lots of goals.

Practicing for the next movie

After renting Ratatouille last weekend Maya's about ready to start practicing towards her next movie rental. The problem we are running into now is that there are not that many good movies for rental in iTunes and without an enticing piece of cheese to dangle it's hard to get Maya to practice. Although she does have a performance coming up at the end of March so she needs to have good practices so she doesn't bring shame upon herself and the family.

New Rocking Chair

New rocking chair from the soon to be baby's grandma. (pictured below - Old Baby)

Evan Wesley Lord

Congratulations to Kyle and Laura!

Furniture Shopping

Went furniture shopping on Saturday and Maya played in the massage chairs. Oh, she has been under such stress lately.

Maya playing with Photo Booth

This Looks Cool

Ah, Friday

Maya is planning on finishing a new piece out of her Suzuki book tonight so she can rent Ratatouille on iTunes. After she rents a movie then it’s sort of a contest to see how many times she can watch it within 24 hours before it expires.

Sitting by Herself

After being told repeatedly to settle down in the waiting room Maya opted to sit on the others side of the room by herself while I mocked her and took pictures. hehehe.

At the Doctors Office

Check up went fine. This is Maya in the waiting room. After dressing this morning she realized she was dressed from head to toe in blue.

Zaheeda Doctors Appointment

Zaheeda is going in this afternoon for a baby checkup. After that we are probably going to stop at IKEA and look for a rocking chair - yep, looking for a chair at IKEA. Now if you'll excuse me I'm going to go jump off the roof.

Allowance

Maya struck up a deal with Zaheeda last night to start receiving an allowance. Her job is to keep her room clean everyday and if she does she'll get $2.50 every week. Out of that $2.50 she has to put at least .50 in savings and she's free to do what she pleases with the rest. Our hope is that all this money doesn't start to corrupt her, ala the young hollywood set.

Greek Salad Lunch

Maya was putting together a school lunch for herself last night and she made herself a greek salad with crushed feta cheese and a little dressing on the side. I don't know, but it seems like she's getting kinda yuppyish. Most kids her age are happy with spaghettios.

Obama takes Wisconsin

Big win for Obama in Wisconsin last night. According to the pundits this is important because it shows Obama can win in a mostly white state (Wisconsin's population being almost entirely white - and then Antwan.)

Maya is pulling for Obama, not so much for his politics as for the fact that every time Hillary is on t.v. Zaheeda starts cursing under her breath.

Soup for Lunch

Went to Eddington's for lunch today. Maya had the Wisconsin cream of cheddar.

Running around on Saturday

Maya has group lessons this morning, then we have to pick up some groceries, post office, run to Office Max where Maya wants to get some dry erase markers - she wants keep her schedule organized on the white board above her desk. I don’t remember life at her age being at all this complicated - but then it’s possible she is applying herself a little more than I did too...

Happy Valentines Day

This morning Maya was out the door with her valentines, her valentine shirt all fired up for Valentines Day! Tonight we are making Zaheeda a Valentines dinner and she requested that I stop and Lunds and get her one of her favorite extra fancy desserts... for Valentines. Some of us think she may be getting a little too accustomed to a certain lifestyle.

Zaheeda and Baby

Zaheeda with baby and questionable fashion sense.

Hearing Checked

We had Maya get her hearing checked at school today and according to the school nurse her hearing is fine. I guess this means her problems stem mainly from listening then....

Foot Massage

The continuing chronicles of life with a pregnant woman-

Tonight I climbed in bed early and was in the middle of a good book when about 10:15PM Zaheeda came hobbling in with a jar of foot massage cream. As an experiment I pretended to ignore the foot cream and see how she would react. She rolled herself into bed, moaned and groaned a little, then started giving herself a foot rub... Finally I asked, what at this point was the most unnecessary question ever, “would you like me to give you a foot massage?”

Renting Simpson Movie

As reward for accomplishing a new piece out of her violin book Maya got to rent a movie from iTunes yesterday - she opted for The Simpson Movie.

Open Weekend

Our plan for this weekend is to have no plans. This being the first weekend in a long time we’ve had no obligations - group lessons, visitors, concerts, etc, we plan on staying home and doing nothing. Maya has a lot of violin to practice, I have books to organize and Zaheeda needs to just stay where she is because it is getting to be an ordeal getting her from point A to point B.

Anti-Itch Pajamas

Boy we sure could have used these a couple years ago for maya when she was in the throes of battling her eczema - and they look so futuristic. - Link

Math in the Tub

Was cleaning the bathroom this afternoon and ran into a little problem. It seems someone took a pencil and was doing math problems on the edge of the tub. I labored away trying The Works and Scrubbing Bubbles but nothing really seemed to work - sure they work fine for removing mildew and soap scum but as far as math problems are concerned, it just wasn’t happening. Who knew math could be so difficult?
