Volleyball - regular season is over

Hillcrest had their final games last night, they won one and lost the other. The regular season is now over however there is a citywide tournament next Tues that is single elimination - win or go home. Oh how exciting!!! This is like the NCAA tournament all over again :-)

Volleyball

Instead of volleyball practice tonight Hillcrest played a makeup game against Groveland at the Hillcrest Rec. Center. Hillcrest lost to a very good Groveland team but now without putting up a good fight losing two of three sets. Tomorrow night is the last game of the season, but the coach has been talking about some kind of tournament so I guess it remains to be seen when exactly the season is over.

Here Maya is (number 5) getting ready to defend against the serve.

Sunday afternoon bike ride

This afternoon we rode 18 miles, riding to Harriet Island in Downtown Saint Paul and back.

Sandstone

Today on our bike ride Maya stopped to play with the sandstone again. This time she left her mark.

Maya, Claire and coconut

Saturday we were at United Noodle and Maya wanted to get a coconut to drink. Ahhh... just like being back in Guyana.

Aéropostale

Sunday Maya was out spending some of her babysitting money on Aéropostale clothing, it's what all the kids are wearing now. I'm not sure what Aéropostale means, but I suspect it's Greek for 'over-priced cheap t-shirts.'

Saturday night bike ride

Saturday night we went for a little bike ride to test out our little flashing bike lights - they worked.

The Elevator

So a couple weeks ago I dropped Maya off for violin lessons. Whenever we go to lessons, which are on the third floor I always insist we take the stairs because it's my opinion that there is no reason a healthy person cannot walk three flights of stairs and that the elevator should be reserved only for the handicapped and lazy - and last time I checked Maya wasn't handicap. Maya insists she always takes the steps even when I'm not with her - so last time when I went to pick her up I waited in the lobby of the building and low and behold who should come strolling out of the elevator? Hmmmm.... Lazy and a liar - not a good combination.

Volleyball game

Maya with a "power serve." Hillcrest won one of their two games last night and played pretty well overall. The team they lost to was Battle Creek and they are a really good team. Maya is getting better all the time and has lost of fun.

Leaving Wisconsin

Before leaving her Grandparents this morning she had to give them a violin performance - it's her job.
