This afternoon we stopped for some ice cream at The Grand Ole Creamery - Mmmmm... that's good ice cream.

Maya ran in her second track meet tonight. Due to the heat they did not have the kids run the mile run so Maya took part in the shorter races instead and did really well. She got 1st in the 100 and 200 meter races.

Fishing

Maya was down by the river last night harvesting denizens of the deep. Last year Sonja sent her a fishing journal to record all her fishing moments. Well not only did she write down all the fish that she caught she actually brought the journal along with us so she could write down all pertinent fish facts in near real time.

Running in the rain

Maya had running practice tonight but when we got there we found out it had been canceled due to rain. We figured since we were already there and Maya was already wet, she may as well do a little running - so she practiced running her mile. After leaving the track we headed over to soccer practice only find out that no one showed up for that either... What's the big deal with a little rain?

Favre

Zaheeda has been getting very worked up over the whole Favre thing. I try and tell her its just football and she should concern herself with more pressing concerns but...

Big Soccer Night

Team England won their first game tonight over Brazil and Maya scored a personal record of three goals in the game. All the girls on the team showed much improvement over last week and they did with a limited number of players so they couldn't do any substituting. Very impressive performance all the way around.

New Email

So I set-up a gmail account for Maya so she could have her own email (just like a regular person). This I thought this was a very nice gesture on my part. By the way her new email is email.mayas@gmail.com if you want to send her something. Anyway I'm at my desk this evening when suddenly I see I got an email from Maya and this is what it said:


That's right... She took her new email, which I so lovingly set up for her mind you, and used it to nag, whine and bother me for stuff. Nice.

With this kind of behavior, I don't blame her Grandmother for refusing to let her stay over at a friend's house.:-)

Fishing

Had our first fishing trip this afternoon and Maya caught two fish. We only fished for about an hour and then we had to get home so we could run some errands with Zaheeda and Annah.

5th Grader

Last Day of School!!!!

Even though it doesn't feel like summer, summer is here. Here desk is cleaned out and all she has to do is finish off the day and she'll officially be a 5th Grader.

Busy Tuesday

Another busy Tuesday for Maya - violin rehearsal followed by running practice followed by soccer practice. This will be the last time we have this crazy Tuesday since her violin lessons will be on Thursday starting next week.
