Harry Potter

This afternoon we had a Daddy Daughter Day and saw Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. We both give the film thumbs up - special effects were cool, story was engaging with a lot of charming and humorous moments as well - we highly recommend it.

Last night Maya and her mom went bowling with other families from Saint Joseph's School of music (or as her Grandma refers to it, The Nerd Farm). They had fun bowling and eating pizza - violin can be so much fun at times.

Last Soccer Game

Last night was Maya's final soccer game marking the end of a very long and dismal season.

Highland Water Tower

Yesterday while we were out we noticed they had the old Highland Park Water Tower open for tours. Since they only open it a couple weeks every year we figured we'd check it out. Yep, out touring an outdated water utility - we're kind of simple folk. It was pretty cool on the inside but it was a bit of work carrying Annah up all those steps.

Highland Fest

This afternoon Maya and I headed over to Highland Fest. While there we walked around and looked at all the different quirky craft exhibits and commented on which ones her White Grandma would find really neat - she kinda goes for that kind of stuff. Topping the list of crafts White Grandma would like were agate mosaics, and geese made out of stones and steel. We would have bought her something but we didn't have any money and also didn't think she needed any more clutter around her house anyway.

Final Track Meet

Maya had her final track meet tonight and ran her fastest time in the mile 7:15!!! She was the fastest girl and came really close to running the same time as the two boys in front of her. We're really proud of the progress she's made this year and she said she's going to keep on training so she's even better for next year.

Maya set a new personal record time in her mile run yesterday - 7:34!!! That is almost a minute faster than her previous best time - very impressive!

Ice Age 3

Yesterday I took Maya and her friend Sammie to see an advanced screening of the new Ice Age movie in Maple Grove. They both gave it a thumbs up and I fell asleep in the middle of it but what I saw I'd give a thumbs up too.
