Here are a couple pictures from the chemistry lab on Saturday. In these pictures Maya is making hamster toothpaste. Why it's considered hamster toothpaste and not say dog toothpaste I don't know (after all I'm not a scientist), but Maya had a fun time nonetheless.

Maya seems to bring a level of enjoyment to her experiments that are clearly noticeable in her facial expressions. When compared to another famous scientist, Marie Curie (pictured below), I can't help but think that maybe science isn't all fun and bubbly stuff and there is a level of drudgery and misery not mentioned at these science labs. But then Marie Curie, as a result of exposing herself to excessive radiation died an excruciatingly awful death. Maya, as a result of making her hamster toothpaste was only left with green fingers. I guess when it comes to science you have to learn to take the good with the bad.

The Ladies

Tonight they took a bath together then they sat by the fireplace and watched t.v. together.

Chemistry at the library

Tomorrow Maya is going to a chemistry class for kids at the library and then it's group violin lessons at Saint Joseph's. We were thinking we'd have breakfast at Highland Cafe across the street while she's at the library mixing chemicals - after all, if she blows something up we really don't want to be anywhere near that.

Bike riding

Maya and I went for a bike ride to the post office in Mendota this afternoon to mail a couple books - we gotta save a s much money as possible on gas. It was a little windy but otherwise a nice day for a ride.

Watching Deal or No Deal

Maya & Annah watching Deal or No Deal. Annah at three weeks old can't figure out why anyone watches this show - little does she know life will never offer an answer to that question.

Ah the world is all coming back to normal - she's out of the hospital and back to shopping at Target. Looks like all is well with the world.

Bike ride to the river

It was a nice day today (nice meaning it wasn't snowing) so Maya and I went for a bike ride - well she rode her bike I walked. We went down by the Mississippi...


She threw rocks...

and found a cool looking rock.

Taking care of Annah

Tonight Zaheeda handed me Annah to watch while she took a bath. Annah was all fussy, so I checked her diaper and she was all messy. What kind of a mother would go take a bath to get all cleaned up while leaving her daughter a mess? Maya and I cleaned Annah up and she was so grateful. Maya rocked her a little and she went right to sleep.

Grandparents soon to be new puppy

Zaheeda had the baby! It's a girl!!!! Annah Kassima Schmitt - 6lbs 8oz. Here are a couple quick pics. We'll have more later and hopefully in better quality. We kind of got caught out and I had to use the camera on my cell phone for the birth pictures. More pics and details later - things are kind of hectic right now.
