$100 Potty Training Challenge

Maya has one more month before it's back to school and she has taken on the herculean challenge of trying to potty train Annah. If she succeeds she'll be rewarded with a $100 - a hundred dollars we are happy to pay because that is a couple months diaper bill for us. We'll see what she can do.

Life's a beach

While on our bike ride last night we stopped at the Fort Snelling Beach for a little while. They spent most of the time playing in the sand and little time in the actual water. Eventually Maya started getting really hungry and Annah had sand stuck in all her hard to reach places so it was time to go.

Bike Ride

Last night I drug Maya kicking and screaming away from the television and took her for a bike ride. What a perfect night.

At the mall

Last night Maya and I had some time to kill, and what better way to kill time than by walking around the mall. When we got there this huge crowd had gathered in the rotunda to see some author named Alison Arngrim. Neither of us had heard of this person which was strange because apparently a lot of other people had since there was line of about 4 or 500 people waiting to get books signed. Finally I got a glimpse of the cover of the book and figured out who Alison Arngrim is:

Who knew Nellie Oleson could draw such a crowd?

Fishing

Friday evening we went fishing down by the river. The fishing was kind of slow, but the weather was nice and we had fun.

Wednesday

Maya has her last track meet of the year tonight and we are waiting to see if the weather is going to hold up. All afternoon we've been having little thunderstorms roll through so we'll see if she runs or not. Either way she's been fueling up on watermelon all afternoon, so she's ready to go.

Maya, gone but in touch

Maya is spending the week in Wisconsin, but that's not keeping the sisters apart - they fire up Skype and it's as good as having her in the house. Actually it's a little better because she can't mess up the house on Skype. If we look back two years ago it was pretty much the same thing. -Link

Mountain biking

This afternoon Maya and I went mountain biking. Well, truth be told it wasn't exactly mountain biking since we really don't have any mountains around here, it could more accurately be called 'riding off our normal paved road biking,' but that doesn't sound as good.

After about five minutes of riding Maya decided she needed to eat a sandwich, not so much because she had developed a hearty appetite doing hard riding, it was just that she had not eaten breakfast or lunch and was really hungry.

After Maya's lunch we continued on along the Minnesota river wild life preserve until we came to this interesting sight - it seemed to be a bridge to nowhere. It was a nicely constructed bridge heading off into the middle of a swamp that had no trail on the other side, nor did it look like there were any plans to make a trail on the other side. I figure this must have been part of the Obama economic stimulus plan.

Here Maya is walking her bike up a steep rocky hill.

By the time we got home we had done about 13 miles. It was a nice day.

Lost tooth

Maya lost what we think was her last baby tooth last night. She wanted to know how much the tooth fairy was going to being her, but I told her I wouldn't bother the tooth fairy about money right now because she's still pretty upset over Maya losing her glasses at Valley Fair.
