Mountain biking

This afternoon Maya and I went mountain biking. Well, truth be told it wasn't exactly mountain biking since we really don't have any mountains around here, it could more accurately be called 'riding off our normal paved road biking,' but that doesn't sound as good.

After about five minutes of riding Maya decided she needed to eat a sandwich, not so much because she had developed a hearty appetite doing hard riding, it was just that she had not eaten breakfast or lunch and was really hungry.

After Maya's lunch we continued on along the Minnesota river wild life preserve until we came to this interesting sight - it seemed to be a bridge to nowhere. It was a nicely constructed bridge heading off into the middle of a swamp that had no trail on the other side, nor did it look like there were any plans to make a trail on the other side. I figure this must have been part of the Obama economic stimulus plan.

Here Maya is walking her bike up a steep rocky hill.

By the time we got home we had done about 13 miles. It was a nice day.
