Gary Burton
Last night Maya and I headed downtown to see jazz great and vibraphone virtuoso Gary Burton and his quartet perform at the Twin Cities Jazz Festival. The concert was outstanding.

Daddy Daughter Camping/Trout Fishing Extravaganza
Maya is quite the expert trout fisherman. Here she is fishing this little hole right behind our campsite. There was a guy down there all evening decked out in fly fishing gear not catching anything and then Maya went down there and after about fifteen minutes caught a nice rainbow trout. I don't think the fly fisherman was terribly pleased.
Brown girl with a brown trout
Daybreak on day two.
She really likes trout fishing because she doesn't get up at the crack of dawn for anything - ever.

Maya versus The Pavement
Tonight on her way home from track practice Maya was riding her bike like a bat out of hell down Montreal Ave. when she hit a pothole and went crashing to the pavement. She arrived home several minutes later a bloody mess. We scrubbed up her wounds, put some wraps on and she's almost as good as new. Now why is she just sitting there, shouldn't she be practicing her violin?

Grand Old Day
Maya spent the day hanging out with her friends at Grand Old Day. It was probably the nicest day of the year with the sun shining, low humidity and a light breeze. Tomorrow she starts her last full week of school at Horace Mann. To me this seems kind of sad, but she's ready to move on to bigger and better things.
