Had a real treat tonight. We got to see
Neil Gaiman as he made the final stop on his American book tour for
The Grave Yard Book in Saint Paul. Both Maya and I rate Neil Gaiman as one of our favorite authors and what made this evening particularly enjoyable was the format of the reading - at each stop on this book tour Neil has read a complete chapter from the book and tonight being last stop meant a reading of the final chapter. You can go to
this site and watch every nights reading and even, if you so desire, listen to him read the book in its entirety. Unlike many author readings, which are crowded affairs held in a corner of a book store under bright florescent lights, this was a wonderful event held in a church on Summit Ave. There were probably about 600 people in attendance and we all sat in our pews and listened with awe as we had the unique opportunity of being read to by one of our greatest living storytellers. What a treat!
